why today wasn't a beautiful day
02.09.05 (3:41 pm)   [edit]
after the club day event spent some time on campus taking snapshots, i was surprised how good some of them came out...

i came home to find a free newsletter lying on the table. the title reads, falun gong today: focus on china

the pictures inside this newspaper are horrific reminding me of images from the holocaust. there were men and women beaten, tortured beyond recognition. professors and students from colleges and universitites dead and missing in chinese prisons, all beacause they follow the falun gong spiritual movement.

from the newspaper:
"communist authorities have utilized state-run media in china to create a barrage of fabricated news stories aimed at demonizing falun gong. many violent crimes committed by people with no connection to falun gong were re-written in state-run media to frame falun gong pracitioners as dangerous or worse. much of this hate propaganda has found its way into western media reports"

from the website:
"Your phone is tapped, your house has been broken into and you are followed everywhere you go. Your life and family are in danger, all simply for their spiritual beliefs. If you lived in a communist country such as China, it may not be hard to imagine, but what if you live here in the United States?

If you live outside of China and practice Falun Gong you may be a victim of these same senseless crimes. The leader of China, not content with banning the practice of Falun Gong in his own country has extended the persecution to North America and many other countries around the world"
