shocked myself, literally
03.01.05 (5:55 pm)   [edit]
post for feb 28th, 2005

experienced strong bursts of static discharge from my 100% polyester shirt.

and when i mean strong am not exaggerating in the least, on both occasions i heard a loud crackle and felt a tingling sensation associated with electric shocks, followed by a very brief period of numbing sensation.

1) i sit in front of my PC, right knee makes contact with CPU case, smallest toe on right foot goes numb.

2) am in basement removing the laundry from the dryer, i bend to pick up a sock lying on the floor, right hand makes contact with the sock and fingers on the right hand go numb.

needless to say i was freaked out and have stopped wearing that shirt, it's strange cause it's a real old shirt and while i always hear a crackling sound when i take it off, i never felt any static discharge.

I was running across the floor once, and then touched my nose to the t.v. Boy, what a shock I got.

Lesson learned: Stay away from polyester. ;-)

LOL That's pretty funny actually. I hope that you regained your full sensitivity in your fingers and toes.
